This group was started at the beginning of 2001, for a limited number of sessions. Happily for us, we have a member in the group who has the business background, and academic qualifications, to enable him to give us much needed guidance!
Our studies have ranged widely, covering aspects of the industrial revolution and the ways in which the theories of people such as Adam Smith, Marx, and Keynes have been reflected by events. We also had an address by a lady member on the subject of "Women at Work".
Our members enjoyed the sessions, and did not want to close at the end of the year as originally planned, so our most recent group meeting started on the study of "Bubbles", which is appropriate when one looks at the happenings in the IT industry. We will also be looking at the general functions of the markets.
